Hond & Co
Positive and personal dog guidance

About me

My name is Colette Essers.
I am a cynological instructor and owner of “Hond & Co”.
I live with my husband in Driel and we have 3 dogs.
Dogs are my passion. After years of working in hairdressing, I wanted to follow my passion. Working together with dog and owner. It gives me great satisfaction to convey the dog language to dog owners.

After running a dog school for about 5 years with 5 students per group, I noticed that many dogs and owners had trouble functioning in a group. The dogs/puppies were easily distracted and stressed so they didn't get much out of the lessons. Owners became frustrated as a result and tried everything (sometimes to the point of corrections) to get their dog to listen anyway. But if a dog is very stressed it cannot listen. In order to guide these students better, I decided to guide them further at home and the results were amazing. Because of this I decided to let go of the group lessons and switch to private coaching.

Our dogs:

“Swiffer” she is an 11-year-old Yorkshire Terrier X Shitzu. A real
everyone's friend and a cuddler, who likes to be served and
that often gets it done. We had her before I did the
training, so that she is a bit spoiled that we keep
that way.

“Tommy” He is a rehomed dog from Spain and since July 2018
with us, as a companion for Swiffer since we have come to love our great
friend “Hunter” a Flatcoated Retriever of 10 years old,
had to say goodbye.
“Tommy” is a crossbreed Kooiker dog and is deaf. Afterwards
he had the necessary problems which we had to work on.
and fortunately because of my knowledge, he does not have to go back
to the shelter. Among other things, Tommy suffered from bin envy,
difficulty getting a harness on and off, visitors, and much more.
more. He is now a happy dog.

"Levy" He is our new addition. A white Swiss Shepherd
born on July 21, 2018. How wonderful to be able to use today's knowledge,
train together and build a bond. A cheerful good
listening young teenager who fortunately still has his tricks.
He's great at opening doors.
So to prevent him from going to the neighborhood himself
explore, we just lock the door.
After all, prevention is better than..........

In Memoriam:
"Hunter" There is no greater friend.
He was allowed to be 10 years old. A big blessing for everyone. He
liked everything, as long as he was allowed to come along. Long walks
through the mountains. Swimming was his passion. And a big one
fighter. Survived gastric torsion, bitten several times
other dogs, and yet he liked everyone. Unfortunately one
tumor was fatal and we had to let him go.
My hero. I will carry him in my heart.
